SUMMARY:

The Delivery Driver/Warehouse Support is responsible for pulling orders for delivery and customer pick up, verifying the contents of inventory loads against shipping papers for accuracy, loading and unloading inventory from company vehicles such as trucks, vans, or automobiles, safely driving to deliver product order to customer locations, unloading stock inventory from freight/shipping companies and/or vendors, validating quantities and items to packing slips and stocking inventory.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability, and physical demands required.

 

  • Verify the contents of inventory loads against shipping documents and/or invoices.

  • Load and unload inventory from company trucks, vans, or automobiles.

  • Drive vehicles with capacities under three tons to transport inventory to and from specified destinations, such as customer location, branches, job sites, etc. as directed by Store Branch Manager

  • Obey traffic laws and follow established traffic and transportation procedures.

  • Read maps and follow written or verbal geographic directions.

  • Turn in money received from deliveries, if applicable.

  • Maintain delivery book with invoice, customer signature, date and time of delivery.

  • Inspect and maintain vehicle supplies and equipment, such as gas, oil, water, tires, lights, or brakes, to ensure that vehicles are in proper working condition.

  • Report any mechanical problems encountered with vehicles.

  • Perform emergency repairs, such as changing tires or installing light bulbs, fuses, tire chains, or spark plugs.

  • Report delays, accidents, or other traffic and transportation situations.

  • Unloading inventory from freight truck, verifying packing slip to shipment received with signature, date & time, and assigning to appropriate area in warehouse.

  • Keeps company delivery vehicles maintained, clean and free of trash.

  • Assists in warehouse as needed.

  • Performs all other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  • Education and/or Experience- High School Diploma (or GED or High School Equivalence Certificate) required.

  • Language Skills- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret documents in English. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers (internal and external). Ability to effectively present information to management. Ability to interact clearly and effectively, in both written and oral communication, with supervisor, customers, co-workers, vendors, etc.

  • Mathematical Skills- Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

  • Computer Skills- To perform this job successfully, an individual should be proficient in electronic mail, record keeping, word processing, spreadsheet, etc. This role requires a beginner’s level of knowledge of Microsoft Office.

  • Other Qualifications- Must be minimum age of 21 with 3 years of safe driving experience. Valid driver’s license is required in the state where hired. Acceptable MVR is required. Forklift certification or ability to get certified within first 30 days is required.

 

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

 

While performing the duties of this job, the individual must be able to remain in a stationary position for 75 percent of the time while operating a company vehicle. The individual needs to frequently move about inside the warehouse to load, unload, stock and move materials throughout the warehouse. The individual needs to ascend/ descend a ladder to stock shelves and acquires product to fill orders. The individual frequently positions self to gather product from shelves that are positioned near ground level and overhead. They frequently operate a forklift, tow motor, pallet jack, cart and dolly to move product. They occasionally operate a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, fax machine, and computer printer. They must be able to exchange accurate information with customers and employees while interacting.

 

The individual must regularly push, pull and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently push, pull and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally push, pull and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision and depth perception.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

 

While performing the duties of this job, the individual regularly works inside a company vehicle while making deliveries with conditions controlled by a thermostat and also in conditions controlled by the weather while loading and unloading inventory. The individual will frequently be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in company vehicles is usually low. The noise level in the warehouse work environment is usually moderate. The individual frequently operates a forklift.
